Elected Officials
Resources for Elected Officials
Washington Conservation Voters works closely with elected officials at all levels of government. We know that to ensure environmental protections and to advance environmental issues, we need elected officials who make the environment a priority. That's why we focus on developing strong relationships with state and local leaders and with non-environmental coalition partners. Long-term success for environmental protection demands that we transcend partisanship and build support with Democrats and Republicans alike.
Resources for Legislators
Every two years, we produce the most widely read and referenced scorecard detailing the environmental records of our legislators and naming those who have been champions and those who are out-of-step with their constituents. View our 2007-2008 Scorecard online.
During the legislative session, our lobbyist, Clifford Traisman works closely with legislators to advance the environmental community Priorities. Each week, we also distribute the Environmental Community Hot List for the State House and Senate to all legislators and their staff detailing the community positions on no more than 10 bills in each chamber.
Polling and Reports
Washington Conservation Voters recently conducted a survey that showed that Washington voters overwhelmingly support legislative action to reduce global warming pollution. Read the press release and the full analysis of the poll results.
Resources for Local Officials
We maintain a strong local presence in seven of the state’s nine largest counties representing more than two-thirds of the state’s population. Please contact one of the following chapters: Anacortes, Bainbridge Island, Clark, King, Kitsap, Snohomish, Thurston, or Whatcom. If your region is not represented, please contact Program Director Brendon Cechovic at 206-631-2622 or brendon@wcvoters.org for more information.

“As a young person, I feel compelled to fight against climate change, but I do
so not out of fear but out of unfailing hope, out of a definitive optimism that
we can stop climate change and in the process bring about a wealth of positive
change for everyone on this planet. The political system we have in place may
not be perfect, but if we're going to make real change, we're going to have to
work with it. Our politicians need to know that our earth is non-negotiable and
we need strong action now." -JP Kemmick, Pierce Conservation Voters
