Pierce Conservation Voters Endorses Calvin Goings for County Executive

TACOMA – Pierce Conservation Voters announced today the endorsement of Calvin Goings for Pierce County Executive. After careful consideration of a field of strong environmental candidates, Pierce Conservation Voters gave the chapter’s sole endorsement to Goings. 

“We look forward to working with our next County Executive to continue to push forward environmental progress in Pierce County,” Pierce Conservation Voters Co-Chair Sara Lowe said. “For over a decade, Goings has shown a record of environmental leadership on many of our most-pressing community priorities.”

Pierce County voters are fortunate to have a selection of County Executive candidates who believe that preserving and promoting the environment should be a priority. Pierce Conservation Voters applauds Shawn Bunney’s leadership in regards to transportation solutions, and the interest that both Pat McCarthy and Mike Lonergan have expressed in protecting our natural heritage. But in the end, Goings stands out from the rest as the best environmental candidate for this position. 

Goings’ willingness to take on the challenges of farmland preservation, support of growth management and his leadership of the County’s far-reaching Transfer-Development-Rights program helped solidify Pierce Conservation Voters’ endorsement. The environmental community looks forward to working with Goings to move environmental issues in our county forward.
